Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive urban forestry management plans for designated zones
- Conduct tree risk assessments and prescribe mitigation strategies for public spaces
- Lead community outreach programs to promote urban forestry best practices
- Manage invasive species removal and native tree restoration projects
- Analyze canopy coverage data using GIS and remote sensing technologies
- Coordinate emergency response for storm-damaged trees in high-priority areas
- Train municipal staff on proper tree care and maintenance protocols
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field
- 3+ years of professional urban forestry experience
- International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist credential
- Proficiency in GIS software and tree inventory management systems
- Valid New York State Pesticide Applicator License
- Demonstrated experience in community engagement and public speaking
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in outdoor environments year-round
- Valid driver's license with clean record
