Responsibilities
- Process and review pension applications and benefit requests for state employees in accordance with Georgia state laws.
- Analyze employee service records to calculate accurate pension entitlements and retirement dates.
- Provide detailed guidance and counseling to employees regarding retirement eligibility, health insurance continuation, and survivor benefits.
- Ensure all documentation is filed accurately in the central pension database and maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive personnel data.
- Collaborate with the HR team to resolve complex pension discrepancies and customer inquiries.
- Stay updated on changes to federal and state pension legislation and communicate these changes to staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Business, Finance, or Human Resources is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in benefits administration, payroll, or government customer service.
- Strong knowledge of state retirement systems and government compliance regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to learn internal database systems.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening as required for government employment.
