Role Overview:
The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our server and network infrastructure. You will work in a high-visibility environment ensuring 99.9% uptime and data integrity for state agencies.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of server environments, including Windows Server and Linux distributions.
- Implement and manage security protocols to protect sensitive government data and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Configure and troubleshoot complex network hardware and software issues, including firewalls, switches, and VPNs.
- Conduct regular system backups and disaster recovery planning to minimize downtime.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior administrators and support staff.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy new IT solutions and modernize legacy systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration or network engineering.
- Expert knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and IP addressing schemes.
- Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, CompTIA Security+, or CISSP are highly preferred.
- Ability to obtain a State Security Clearance (e.g., Level 1 or 2).
