Responsibilities
- Conduct routine health inspections of food establishments, childcare centers, and public facilities
- Investigate public health complaints and enforce regulatory compliance
- Develop and implement corrective action plans for identified violations
- Educate business owners on sanitation practices and health regulations
- Collaborate with city departments on public health initiatives
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records
- Respond to public health emergencies and outbreaks
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in health inspection or regulatory compliance
- Certified Public Health Inspector (CPHI) or equivalent credential
- Strong knowledge of Michigan Public Health Code and FDA regulations
- Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills
- Valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
