Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (excavators, loaders, graders) for construction and excavation projects
- Perform manual labor including digging, paving, and debris removal for infrastructure repairs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and city regulations on all job sites
- Assist in traffic control and site setup to maintain public safety during operations
- Conduct routine inspections of public facilities to identify maintenance needs
- Collaborate with engineering teams to execute project blueprints accurately
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform basic maintenance checks
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Illinois Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Minimum 1 year of construction or heavy equipment operation experience
- OSHA 10-hour Construction certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Strong understanding of construction safety standards and best practices
- Basic math skills for material measurement and inventory tracking
- Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
