Responsibilities
- Deliver Mail: Sort and deliver mail to residential and business customers along an assigned route efficiently and accurately.
- Vehicle Operation: Safely operate a delivery vehicle (van or walking route) according to postal regulations and safety standards.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with customers, answer questions regarding mail delivery, and resolve complaints when necessary.
- Mail Processing: Process incoming mail, including canceling and cancelling stamps, and preparing mail for dispatch.
- Physical Stamina: Perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy packages, walking long distances, and standing for extended periods.
- Route Management: Adhere to strict time standards to ensure timely delivery of all mail.
- Security: Maintain the security of the vehicle and mail in transit at all times.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or a resident alien.
- Driver's License: Valid state driver's license required.
- Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check and a drug screening.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift packages weighing up to 70 lbs and perform heavy lifting, bending, and walking.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to read maps and street directories.
- Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
