As a City Carrier, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of mail and packages to customers along an assigned route. This role requires physical stamina, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to safety.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Mail: Sort and deliver mail to residential and business customers along an assigned route, ensuring accurate and timely service.
- Sort Incoming Mail: Process and sort incoming mail to prepare it for the daily route efficiently.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with the public, answer questions, and resolve delivery issues as they arise.
- Maintain Equipment: Keep the mail truck and delivery equipment clean, organized, and in safe operating condition.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all USPS safety regulations and operational procedures while driving and handling packages.
- Handle Packages: Lift, carry, and maneuver packages weighing up to 70 lbs repeatedly, including climbing stairs.
Qualifications
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or have permanent resident status.
- Driver's License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to obtain a USPS driver's certification.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver packages weighing up to 70 lbs; must be able to stand for long periods and walk on varying terrains.
- Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and medical evaluation.
- Skills: Strong time management, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in all weather conditions.
