Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA and federal regulations
- Implement health information management policies to ensure data accuracy and accessibility
- Conduct regular audits of medical records to verify completeness and compliance standards
- Train staff on health information systems and documentation procedures
- Coordinate with clinical departments to resolve documentation discrepancies
- Generate reports on health information metrics for leadership review
- Stay current with evolving healthcare information technology and regulatory changes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare information management
- Proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., VistA, Epic)
- Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and CMS regulations
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain federal security clearance
