Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Process patient admissions, discharges, and transfers with accuracy
- Retrieve and distribute medical records to authorized staff within strict timeframes
- Perform quality audits to ensure documentation completeness and compliance
- Train staff on new records management systems and protocols
- Collaborate with clinical teams to resolve record discrepancies
- Implement privacy safeguards for sensitive veteran information
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Health Information Technology or related field
- 2+ years of medical records experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) or RHIT preferred
- Proficiency with Epic EHR systems and VA-specific software
- Expert knowledge of HIPAA and VA record-keeping regulations
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- U.S. citizenship and VA suitability clearance required
