Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Oversee health information privacy and security protocols for sensitive veteran data
- Implement health information management policies and procedures for clinical documentation
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure accurate coding and documentation practices
- Conduct audits and quality reviews of health information systems
- Train staff on health information management best practices and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with IT teams to optimize EHR functionality and data integrity
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in health information management
- Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., VistA, Epic)
- Knowledge of HIPAA, VA directives, and federal health regulations
- Experience with medical coding and clinical documentation improvement
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
