Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive benefits counseling to veterans and their families regarding VA programs, healthcare, and compensation claims
- Process and adjudicate veteran benefit applications with accuracy and timeliness
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and community partners to coordinate veteran services
- Maintain confidential case records in compliance with federal regulations and privacy laws
- Conduct outreach programs to connect underserved veterans with available resources
- Analyze veteran needs trends to inform program improvements and policy recommendations
- Represent the VA at community events and stakeholder meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Social Work, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in veteran services, social work, or federal benefits administration
- Proficiency with VA systems (VBMS, VBA, VISTA) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid California driver's license and ability to travel within the Bay Area
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Knowledge of federal regulations (38 CFR, PL 115-56) affecting veterans' benefits
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced federal environment
