Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health record systems in compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Implement data integrity protocols for veteran medical information
- Coordinate health information exchange with external healthcare providers
- Conduct audits and ensure compliance with federal health information standards
- Train staff on health information management best practices
- Oversee document scanning, indexing, and retention processes
- Collaborate with IT security teams on data protection initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare data management
- Proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., Cerner, Epic)
- Familiarity with HIPAA and VA health data regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
