Responsibilities
- Serve as primary custodian of veterans' electronic health records (EHR) ensuring compliance with federal regulations and VA policies
- Implement and maintain health information management systems with zero tolerance for data integrity breaches
- Coordinate cross-departmental data migration projects for 50+ clinical departments
- Conduct rigorous audits of health information practices with immediate remediation of non-compliance issues
- Train staff on HIPAA compliance and secure data handling protocols
- Lead disaster recovery planning for critical health information systems
- Collaborate with IT security teams to implement multi-factor authentication for sensitive veteran data
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Health Information Management or related field with RHIA or RHIT certification
- Minimum 5 years' experience in federal healthcare data management systems
- Expertise in VA-specific EHR platforms (VistA) and HL7 standards
- Active security clearance or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Demonstrated history of managing high-stakes data migration projects
- Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding systems
- Experience with federal healthcare compliance audits (JCAHO, CMS)
- Strong analytical skills with data visualization experience using Tableau or Power BI
