Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize electronic health record systems (EHR) for veteran patient data
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and data security protocols across all health information systems
- Develop policies for health information workflow and documentation standards
- Coordinate with clinical teams to resolve data integrity issues and improve system usability
- Conduct audits and implement corrective actions for health information quality
- Train staff on new health information technologies and regulatory updates
- Collaborate with IT department on system upgrades and integration projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in health information management systems
- Expertise in HIPAA and federal healthcare regulations
- Proficiency with EHR systems (VistA experience preferred)
- Demonstrated project management skills in healthcare IT implementations
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
