Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain comprehensive electronic health records (EHR) systems ensuring HIPAA compliance and data integrity
- Coordinate health information exchange between VA facilities and external healthcare providers
- Implement and optimize health information management workflows to improve operational efficiency
- Train staff on health information systems and regulatory requirements
- Conduct audits and quality assurance reviews for health information documentation
- Lead system upgrades and technology transitions for health information platforms
- Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to resolve data discrepancies and system issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field (Master's preferred)
- 3+ years of experience with electronic health records systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar)
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and healthcare privacy regulations
- Experience with health data analytics and reporting tools
- Strong project management skills with ability to lead system implementations
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
