Responsibilities
- Oversee electronic health record (EHR) systems implementation and optimization for VA Portland Healthcare System
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, VA policies, and federal healthcare data standards
- Lead health information quality improvement initiatives and data integrity audits
- Train staff on health information management best practices and EHR workflows
- Collaborate with clinical teams to resolve health data discrepancies and system issues
- Manage health information lifecycle from creation to secure destruction
- Support VA's transition to advanced telehealth and digital health platforms
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required (CAHIIM-accredited program)
- Minimum 3 years of health information management experience in a healthcare setting
- Expertise in EHR systems (e.g., Cerner, Epic) and health data analytics
- Strong understanding of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and VA record-keeping regulations
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA background clearance and security clearance
- Experience with federal healthcare IT projects preferred
