Responsibilities
- Manage electronic health records systems in accordance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Oversee health information privacy and security protocols
- Coordinate coding, indexing, and retrieval of clinical documentation
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with federal health information standards
- Train staff on health information management best practices
- Analyze data integrity issues and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with IT and clinical teams on system implementations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- 3+ years of health information management experience
- Expertise in VA VistE or similar EHR systems
- Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and federal health information regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
