Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with VA and HIPAA regulations
- Oversee health information coding, indexing, and retrieval processes for patient data integrity
- Implement and audit information governance policies for data security and privacy
- Train staff on health information management systems and regulatory updates
- Coordinate with IT and clinical teams to optimize health information workflows
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of medical documentation and coding accuracy
- Lead system upgrades and process improvements for health information technology
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required; CCS preferred
- Minimum 3 years' experience in health information management systems
- Expertise in EHR implementation and data privacy regulations (HIPAA, VA directives)
- Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding standards
- Demonstrated project management experience in healthcare IT environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
- Strong analytical skills with attention to regulatory compliance
