Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize electronic health record (EHR) systems to ensure compliance with HIPAA and federal regulations
- Lead data quality initiatives for patient health information across 15+ clinical departments
- Develop and implement health information governance policies for 500+ healthcare providers
- Coordinate with IT security teams to protect sensitive veteran health data
- Train staff on health information management best practices and new technologies
- Conduct audits to ensure regulatory compliance and data accuracy
- Collaborate on system upgrades and interoperability projects with VA national offices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in acute care health information management
- Expertise in Epic EHR systems and data analytics tools
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA, 21st Century Cures Act, and CMS regulations
- Experience leading data governance initiatives in healthcare settings
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
- Strong project management skills with PMP certification preferred
