Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain VA's electronic health record systems (VistA) across clinical departments
- Analyze complex healthcare workflows to identify technology integration opportunities
- Lead system upgrades and compliance initiatives for HIPAA and federal security standards
- Train clinical staff on new IT systems and troubleshoot technical issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve system interoperability challenges
- Develop documentation for system configurations and operational procedures
- Monitor system performance and implement security protocols to protect veteran data
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience implementing electronic health record systems in healthcare environments
- VA VistA certification or equivalent EHR system expertise (Epic, Cerner)
- Proficiency in healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR) and interoperability frameworks
- Strong project management skills with experience leading system deployments
- Active security clearance or ability to obtain one
- Knowledge of federal IT compliance requirements (FISMA, NIST)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
