Responsibilities
- Maintain security protocols during weekend shifts and conduct regular facility inspections
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce institutional rules with professionalism
- Respond to emergencies, incidents, and medical situations following established procedures
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Transport inmates for court appearances and medical appointments as scheduled
- Collaborate with law enforcement and healthcare providers during critical incidents
- Participate in ongoing training programs to maintain certification and skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Must be 21 years or older and a U.S. citizen
- Valid Michigan driver's license with clean record
- Ability to pass rigorous background check and drug screening
- Completion of MDOC correctional officer training program
- Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
- Ability to work independently in high-stress environments
- Physical fitness to meet correctional facility requirements
