Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility regulations with professionalism
- Conduct security patrols and headcounts to prevent contraband
- Respond to emergencies and incidents using de-escalation techniques
- Document daily operations and incident reports accurately
- Process inmate admissions and releases following legal protocols
- Maintain communication with law enforcement agencies as needed
- Train new officers on facility safety procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Michigan Corrections Officer certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Valid Michigan driver's license
- Minimum 2 years security or law enforcement experience
- Ability to pass rigorous background check and drug screening
- Strong conflict resolution and crisis management skills
- Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays
- Basic computer proficiency for reporting systems
