Responsibilities
- Manage high-volume emergency calls and dispatch appropriate resources (police, fire, EMS)
- Operate CAD/RMS systems with precision during weekend shifts
- Maintain detailed incident documentation and compliance protocols
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical weekend incidents
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support to callers
- Conduct routine equipment checks and system backups
- Train weekend shift personnel on updated procedures
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years dispatch experience in public safety or emergency services
- Valid California POST Public Safety Dispatcher certification
- Proficiency in CAD/RMS systems (e.g., Versadex, PDS)
- Exceptional communication under pressure with clear articulation
- Ability to work independently during weekend shifts with minimal supervision
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
- Spanish fluency strongly preferred (Oakland's diverse population)
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and psychological evaluation
