Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas during weekend shifts to prevent crime and ensure public safety
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, accidents, and public disturbances
- Enforce local ordinances and state laws with professionalism and impartiality
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with detectives and other agencies during weekend investigations
- Participate in community outreach programs and crime prevention initiatives
- Conduct traffic enforcement and accident investigations
- Assist with special event security during weekend operations
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
- Valid Indiana driver's license with clean driving record
- Successfully pass background check, physical agility test, and drug screening
- Completion of IMPD's certified police academy training
- Ability to work rotating weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) with occasional holidays
- Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- CPR and first certification required (training provided if needed)
