Responsibilities
- Manage and preserve official city records, ordinances, and legislative actions in compliance with California Government Code
- Oversee public records requests and ensure timely, transparent responses
- Administer municipal elections and voter registration processes
- Provide legislative support to the Board of Supervisors and mayor's office
- Develop and implement records management systems and digital archiving solutions
- Lead public outreach initiatives to enhance civic engagement
- Supervise City Clerk division staff and manage departmental budget
- Serve as the city's official records custodian and election officer
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of municipal government experience with records management focus
- California Election Official certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Expertise in California Public Records Act and Brown Act compliance
- Advanced proficiency in records management systems (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Proven leadership experience managing teams in public sector environments
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Valid California driver's license and ability to travel to city facilities
