Responsibilities
- Officially record, maintain, and archive all city council minutes, ordinances, and resolutions
- Manage public records requests and ensure compliance with open records laws
- Coordinate municipal elections and voter registration processes
- Administer oaths of office and notary public services for city officials
- Oversee city seal usage and official document authentication
- Serve as clerk to city boards and commissions
- Develop and implement records retention policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field
- Minimum 3 years experience in municipal government or records management
- Expert knowledge of Tennessee open records laws and Sunshine Act
- Advanced proficiency in document management systems (e.g., Laserfiche)
- Excellent written communication and meeting minute-taking abilities
- Professional certification (e.g., Municipal Clerk, CRM) preferred
- Ability to obtain notary public commission within 6 months
