Responsibilities
- Oversee all official city records including ordinances, resolutions, and minutes
- Manage public records requests and ensure compliance with open records laws
- Prepare and certify legal documents for city council meetings and elections
- Administer oaths of office and maintain official city seal
- Coordinate with departments to ensure accurate legislative documentation
- Supervise records management system implementation and maintenance
- Provide public access to municipal records while safeguarding sensitive information
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field
- Minimum 3 years municipal government or records management experience
- Certification as Municipal Clerk (CMC) or Certified Public Administrator (CPA) preferred
- Expertise in Tennessee open records laws and Sunshine Act compliance
- Proficiency in records management software (e.g., Laserfiche, OnBase)
- Exceptional attention to detail with zero-error tolerance for legal documents
- Strong communication skills for interacting with elected officials and public
