Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain all official city records, ordinances, minutes, and public documents with meticulous accuracy
- Coordinate and administer all City Council meetings, including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and public hearing logistics
- Oversee municipal elections, voter registration, and compliance with Virginia election statutes
- Process and record official actions, resolutions, and contracts ensuring legal compliance
- Serve as custodian of the city seal and authenticate all official documents
- Develop and implement records management systems for digital and physical archives
- Provide administrative support to the City Manager and elected officials
- Respond to public records requests and ensure transparency in government operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field required
- Minimum 5 years of municipal government or public sector experience
- Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation preferred
- Expert knowledge of Virginia's Freedom of Information Act and public records laws
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and records management software
