You'll lead critical public records management, support the Seattle City Council, and ensure transparency in local governance. Responsibilities
- Manage municipal records, ordinances, and official documentation with meticulous accuracy
- Administer oaths, notarizations, and public record requests per RCW requirements
- Support City Council meetings by preparing agendas, minutes, and legislative documentation
- Oversee voter registration and election compliance in partnership with King County
- Lead records digitization and modernization initiatives for public accessibility
- Advise city departments on records retention policies and legal compliance
- Manage the City Clerk's office budget and personnel resources
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- Minimum 5 years municipal government experience with records management
- Washington State Municipal Clerk certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
- Expertise in RCW chapters 42.56 (Public Records Act) and 29A (Elections)
- Advanced proficiency in records management systems (e.g., Laserfiche)
- Demonstrated success leading public-facing service operations
- Exceptional written/verbal communication and conflict resolution skills
