Responsibilities
- Oversee the comprehensive management of official city records, including minutes, ordinances, resolutions, and contracts.
- Coordinate and administer all municipal elections in strict accordance with state and local laws.
- Prepare, distribute, and archive agendas, packets, and minutes for City Council and Board meetings.
- Respond to public records requests (FOIA) in a timely, transparent, and professional manner.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate clerical staff within the department to ensure high performance standards.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local statutes regarding public administration.
- Act as the primary liaison between the City Council, various departments, and the general public.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in a municipal government or public administration setting.
- Strong working knowledge of government operations, procurement processes, and public records laws (e.g., Arizona Revised Statutes).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and government-specific software (e.g., Accela, CivicPlus).
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with the highest level of discretion.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license is preferred.
