Welcome to the City of Sacramento. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented City Clerk to join our dynamic municipal team. As the guardian of our official records and the facilitator of transparent government operations, this role is pivotal in ensuring our community's voice is heard and documented with precision.
In this position, you will act as the primary point of contact for city council meetings, public records requests, and administrative logistics. You will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your organizational skills directly contribute to the smooth functioning of local government.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate meeting minutes, agendas, and ordinances for the City Council and various boards.
- Manage and organize official city records, ensuring compliance with retention schedules and the California Public Records Act.
- Coordinate the logistics for public hearings, meetings, and community events.
- Respond to public inquiries regarding city policies, procedures, and records access.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, resolutions, and correspondence for elected officials and staff.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding sensitive government information.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in clerical work, records management, or government administration.
- Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic database management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
