Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce institutional rules to ensure facility security
- Conduct regular patrols and headcounts to maintain order and prevent contraband
- Respond to emergencies, medical incidents, and security breaches with proper protocols
- Prepare detailed reports on inmate behavior, facility conditions, and security breaches
- Transport inmates between facilities and court appearances following strict procedures
- Operate security systems including surveillance equipment and control panels
- Train new officers on institutional policies and emergency response protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with clean record
- U.S. citizenship and minimum age of 21 years
- Pass comprehensive background check, polygraph, and drug screening
- Successfully complete physical agility test and correctional officer training
- Ability to work rotating night shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Strong conflict resolution skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- No felony convictions and clean employment history
