Responsibilities
- Supervise inmate activities and enforce facility rules with firm yet fair leadership
- Conduct regular security patrols and inspections of living quarters and common areas
- Monitor inmate behavior and de-escalate conflicts using crisis intervention techniques
- Document incidents, inmate conduct, and security breaches with detailed reports
- Respond to emergencies including medical incidents, disturbances, and security breaches
- Escort inmates within the facility and to court appearances following strict protocols
- Operate security systems including control panels, gates, and surveillance equipment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- Valid Nebraska driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check, drug screening, and physical fitness assessment
- Strong communication skills with ability to de-escalate tense situations
- Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays as required
- Basic computer proficiency for report writing and documentation
- No felony convictions; misdemeanor case-by-case evaluation
