Responsibilities
- Case Management: Manage and maintain accurate court dockets, case files, and records for the District Clerk's Office, ensuring all legal documents are properly filed and indexed.
- Document Processing: Process and file legal documents, including motions, judgments, civil suits, and transcripts, strictly adhering to state and local regulations.
- Public Assistance: Assist the public, attorneys, and court officials with inquiries regarding court schedules, case status, and filing procedures in a professional and courteous manner.
- Data Entry: Perform high-volume data entry and transcription tasks with a focus on speed and absolute accuracy to maintain the integrity of court records.
- Legal Correspondence: Prepare, issue, and serve subpoenas, summons, and other official legal notices to relevant parties.
- Confidentiality: Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive legal and personal information in accordance with federal and state privacy laws.
- Office Operations: Operate office equipment, including scanners, printers, and case management software, to support daily courthouse operations.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies, Criminal Justice, or Business Administration is preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience in office administration, data entry, or a related legal support role within a government or legal setting.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with legal case management software (e.g., Tyler Technologies, CourtSmart) is highly desirable.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to maintain accuracy when handling large volumes of paperwork and data.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and respectfully with diverse populations, including attorneys, judges, and the general public.
- Work Ethic: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
