Responsibilities
- Case Management: Manage and maintain accurate, up-to-date case files for civil, criminal, and family law proceedings.
- Document Processing: Receive, log, and file legal documents such as motions, judgments, subpoenas, and orders, ensuring strict compliance with court rules and regulations.
- Public Assistance: Serve as the first point of contact for the public, attorneys, and court personnel; answer inquiries regarding court schedules, filing fees, and procedural requirements.
- Record Keeping: Perform high-volume data entry and database management to ensure the integrity of the court's electronic and physical records.
- Communication: Draft and distribute correspondence to judges, clerks of court, attorneys, and litigants to keep all parties informed of case status.
- Office Operations: Assist in the organization of the clerk's office, manage office supplies, and operate standard office equipment and court technology.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a legal environment, court administration, or a government office is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable learning new court management software.
- Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive legal information.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
