Responsibilities
- Receive, organize, and index legal documents, including civil, criminal, and family law cases, ensuring accuracy and compliance with filing standards.
- Maintain and update court docket calendars to schedule hearings, trials, and depositions for judges and court officials.
- Interact with attorneys, litigants, and the general public to provide information regarding case status, filing fees, and procedural requirements.
- Operate case management software and office equipment (scanners, copiers, printers) to digitize and file records efficiently.
- Process payments for court fees, fines, and traffic citations while maintaining precise financial records.
- Ensure the strict confidentiality and security of sensitive legal information and public records.
- Perform data entry tasks to update court databases and assist in the preparation of legal correspondence.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or Criminal Justice is preferred.
- Previous experience in a legal environment, government office, or court administration is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with case management software (e.g., Fastcase, LexisNexis) is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to proofread complex legal documents without errors.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effectively serving diverse populations.
- Ability to maintain high ethical standards and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License required for occasional in-person court appearances.
