Job Summary
As a Courthouse Clerk, you will be responsible for a variety of administrative duties essential to the operation of the court. Responsibilities
- File Management: Receive, review, and file civil and criminal case documents, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records both electronically and physically.
- Public Interaction: Greet visitors and court patrons, answer inquiries regarding court schedules and procedures, and direct them to the appropriate staff members.
- Payment Processing: Collect fines, fees, and traffic citations via cash, check, or card; accurately record transactions in the court's financial management system.
- Docket Maintenance: Update and maintain the court docket, ensuring that calendars and hearing dates are current and accessible.
- Office Administration: Assist with general clerical tasks such as answering phones, photocopying, and preparing legal correspondence.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is required; Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or Criminal Justice is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in an administrative or legal office setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn court-specific software quickly.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
