Responsibilities
- File Management: Receive, open, and accurately file civil and criminal legal documents, maintaining a well-organized docket.
- Public Assistance: Assist visitors, attorneys, and self-represented litigants with court procedures, case searches, and form preparation.
- Record Keeping: Input data into court management systems, ensuring all records are up-to-date, confidential, and accessible.
- Process Service: Issue and process summonses, subpoenas, and court orders for service by the Sheriff's Office.
- Communication: Answer telephone inquiries and provide information regarding court schedules, docket availability, and case status.
- Calendar Management: Monitor court calendars and notify parties of upcoming hearings or changes in schedule.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies or Criminal Justice is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of clerical experience, preferably in a legal or government office setting.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with court management software.
- Typing: Strong typing skills with a minimum speed of 40 WPM.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- Detail Oriented: Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and manage high volumes of paperwork with accuracy.
