Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive emergency response plans for hurricanes, floods, pandemics, and security threats
- Coordinate multi-agency drills and tabletop exercises with fire, police, and federal partners
- Manage public alert systems and crisis communications during emergencies
- Analyze risks and recommend mitigation strategies for critical infrastructure
- Train county staff and community volunteers in emergency protocols
- Secure and administer federal disaster preparedness grants
- Lead post-incident reviews and implement improvement plans
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years experience in disaster response or emergency planning
- FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS) certification required
- Experience with NIMS/ICS frameworks and grant management
- Strong data analysis and GIS mapping skills
- Valid Texas driver's license and ability to work irregular hours during crises
- Exceptional written communication and public speaking abilities
