Job Overview:
As an Entry-Level Government Clerk, you will serve as the first point of contact for the public, ensuring efficient service delivery and accurate record-keeping. This role requires a professional demeanor, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and direct incoming calls and visitors to appropriate departments.
- Perform data entry and filing of documents with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Assist in processing applications, permits, and public records requests.
- Maintain and organize office files, both physical and digital, ensuring compliance with government regulations.
- Prepare routine correspondence, reports, and memos for supervisors.
- Assist the public with inquiries regarding county services and procedures.
- Operate office equipment including scanners, printers, and multi-line telephones.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Previous experience in an office or administrative setting is a plus, but not required for entry-level candidates.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer navigation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening as per county policy.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License is preferred.
