Responsibilities
- Manage and organize incoming and outgoing correspondence, records, and files in accordance with city regulations and retention schedules.
- Assist the public and city staff by answering phone inquiries, directing calls, and providing accurate information regarding city services.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate databases using city-approved software systems.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate meetings for department leadership.
- Prepare routine reports and assist in the preparation of meeting packets and agendas.
- Maintain a high standard of confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 0-2 years of general clerical or administrative experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer navigation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on customer service.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to obtain a City of Austin background check and security clearance.
