Responsibilities
- Member Support: Assist current and retired public employees with inquiries regarding their pension plans, benefits, and eligibility requirements.
- Data Processing: Accurately process new pension applications, contribution records, and withdrawal requests using state systems.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain and update employee pension records to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Compliance: Monitor pension activities to ensure adherence to financial laws and internal agency policies.
- Reporting: Assist in the preparation of statistical reports and summaries regarding pension fund performance and member demographics.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the finance and HR departments to resolve complex benefit issues.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field is preferred. High school diploma with significant relevant experience will be considered.
- Experience: No prior experience required; however, internship or volunteer experience in an office environment is a plus.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required. Familiarity with database management software is a plus.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills and a keen eye for accuracy in data entry and processing.
- Integrity: High ethical standards and the ability to handle sensitive financial information with complete confidentiality.
