Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and complaint-driven inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public swimming pools
- Investigate environmental health complaints and implement corrective actions
- Provide technical guidance and educational outreach to businesses and community groups
- Maintain accurate inspection records and generate detailed compliance reports
- Collaborate with county officials to enforce health codes and regulations
- Participate in emergency response activities for environmental health threats
- Stay current with evolving health regulations and industry best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Texas Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of environmental health or regulatory inspection experience
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards
- Excellent communication skills with diverse populations
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends for inspections
