The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking a passionate Environmental Specialist to protect Jacksonville's unique ecosystems while ensuring regulatory compliance. Responsibilities
- Monitor environmental compliance and conduct field inspections at industrial/commercial sites
- Analyze environmental data and prepare detailed compliance reports for state/federal agencies
- Develop and implement pollution prevention strategies for local businesses
- Coordinate with local government agencies on environmental emergency response
- Provide technical guidance to stakeholders on environmental regulations
- Lead community outreach programs on environmental protection initiatives
- Review permit applications and ensure adherence to environmental standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental compliance or regulatory affairs
- Valid Florida driver's license with clean driving record
- Proficiency in environmental data analysis software (e.g., GIS, ESRI)
- Strong knowledge of Florida's environmental regulations (Chapter 403, F.S.)
- Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) preferred
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in field conditions
