Responsibilities
- Operate city-provided heavy machinery (excavators, loaders, graders) for construction and maintenance projects
- Perform manual labor tasks including excavation, paving, and debris removal
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and OSHA compliance standards
- Assist in repairing and maintaining public roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project timelines are met
- Document work activities and maintain equipment logs
- Participate in emergency response operations during weather events
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Tennessee driver's license with clean record
- Ability to obtain Class B Commercial Driver's License within 90 days of hire
- Minimum 1 year experience in construction or heavy equipment operation preferred
- Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Basic knowledge of construction safety standards and equipment operation
