Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment (backhoes, dump trucks, street sweepers) safely and efficiently
- Manage public green spaces, parks, and recreational facilities through landscaping and upkeep
- Respond to emergency weather events (hurricanes, floods) for critical infrastructure restoration
- Enforce municipal codes and regulations during public works operations
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Complete detailed work logs and incident reports using digital systems
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational certification in relevant field preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works, construction, or municipal maintenance
- Valid Louisiana Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with clean driving record
- Certification in OSHA safety standards and heavy equipment operation
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor conditions
- Proficiency with GPS technology and digital work management systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in emergency scenarios
