Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor inmate activities to maintain facility security and compliance with federal regulations
- Conduct regular searches of inmates, living quarters, and common areas to prevent contraband
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and security breaches with swift, decisive action
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation of facility operations
- Escort inmates within the facility and to off-site locations as required
- Enforce facility rules and provide guidance to inmates regarding behavioral expectations
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies during joint operations and investigations
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation and polygraph examination
- Must obtain and maintain a federal security clearance
- Successfully complete the Federal Bureau of Prisons training program
- Physical ability to meet correctional officer fitness standards including defensive tactics
- No felony convictions and clean driving record for the past three years
- Availability to work rotating night shifts, weekends, and holidays
