Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain comprehensive electronic health record systems (EHR) in compliance with VA regulations
- Ensure data integrity through rigorous quality control audits and validation processes
- Implement and monitor HIPAA privacy/security protocols for sensitive veteran health information
- Coordinate with clinical teams to optimize health information workflows and documentation standards
- Train staff on health information systems and regulatory updates
- Generate reports for leadership on data quality and system performance metrics
- Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives for health information management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 2 years' experience with EHR systems (Epic preferred)
- Proficiency in HIPAA and federal healthcare regulations (VA, CMS)
- Advanced knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding standards
- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive data with strict confidentiality
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- U.S. citizenship required for federal position
