Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Oversee medical coding, indexing, and retrieval processes for 5,000+ patient records
- Conduct quality audits of health information documentation and data integrity
- Train staff on health information management best practices and VA systems
- Coordinate with clinical departments to resolve documentation discrepancies
- Implement and monitor privacy/security protocols for sensitive veteran health data
- Generate reports for healthcare leadership on record accuracy and workflow efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
- RHIA or RHIT certification through AHIMA required
- 3+ years' experience in acute care health information management
- Proficiency in Epic EHR systems and medical coding (ICD-10, CPT)
- Knowledge of federal healthcare regulations (VA, HIPAA, CMS)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
