Responsibilities
- Manage and secure electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA and federal regulations
- Coordinate health information exchange between VA facilities and community partners
- Conduct quality audits on medical documentation and coding accuracy
- Train healthcare staff on health information management best practices
- Generate compliance reports for federal oversight agencies
- Collaborate with IT security teams on data breach prevention protocols
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- 2+ years of health information management experience
- Certified Health Information Technician (RHIT) or equivalent certification
- Proficiency with Epic EHR systems and health data analytics tools
- Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and federal health data standards
- Ability to obtain and maintain federal security clearance
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
